Welcome to Our List of Best Bollywood Movies of 2018. Before we Jump right into the list let us introduce you to some rules that we followed while making this list.
This is List of Best Hindi movies so please do not fight over in comments as why a south Indian or Punjabi film was not included in the list.
Secondly this list is updated weekly (every Friday) so we keep on adding new movies. This means that any good movie that is released in 2018 can dethrone the top film and become the
best hindi movie of 2018. However the list will be finalised on the last Friday of December 2018.
Thirdly we have also extended this list to a section called ‘Hopes and Flops’. What’s that, You may ask? Well, this section feature
upcoming Bollywood movies of 2018 that we believe can be game changer in the list. It also feature previously released films that everyone hoped to be good watch but turned out to be a critical failure.
Fourth and most important rule THIS LIST DO NOT RATE A FILM ON THE BASIS OF THEIR BOX OFFICE PERFORMANCE.
Since ages, Bollywood movies are being considered successful on the basis of their box office performance. This is only hurting our industry because we are being served the same old masala movies just from different angels.
This is the reason why our directors who have capability to be the next Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan or John hughes just give up.
Let us honor films that not only entertained us but also left a long lasting impact on our mind.
So without any further ado let’s explore the list of best hindi movies of 2018.

102 Not Out –

Cast – Amitabh bachchan, Rishi Kapoor

Box Office – Rs. 71 Crore
Plot – A 102 year old man send his 70 year old son to old age home.
There will be no other actor like Amitabh Bachchan. The man has established himself to such heights that no one will ever reach. One good thing about him is that he is open for experiments and that is why we are getting good films like Paa, pink, piku and now 102 Not Out.
This film might not make it to the final list of Top 10 Hindi Movies of 2018 but it surely is a milestone in career of Amitabh bachchan and Rishi Kapoor.
Blackmail –
Director – Abhinay Deo
Cast – Irrfan Khan, Kirti Kulhari, Arunodhay Singh
IMDB Rating – 7.2

Box Office – Rs. 28 Crore
Plot – A Man blackmails his own wife after he finds out her extra marital affair.
Abhinay deo tried something new with this film and he succeeded beautifully. Words are not enough to praise actor like Irrfan Khan. In the era of Khan’s, he sure took a lot of time to establish himself as a lead hero but his effort was never solo. He paved way for actors like Nawazuddin and slowly our Bollywood is changing.
Blackmail is a light comedy film and if you loved Hindi medium then you will like this movie too.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety –
Director – Luv Ranjan
Cast – Kartik Aryan, Nusrat Barusha, Sunny
IMDB Rating – 7.4

Box Office – Rs. 150 Crore
Plot – When his friend falls for a wrong girl, a Sakht launda do all he can to show the truth to his friend.
I won’t say that Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety is the best hindi movie of 2018 but I have included it here because of certain reasons. First of all it gave us charming actor like Kartik Aryan. The guy is in Bollywood from past seven years but with this film he has established himself as an actor with the potential to be future superstar.
I Hope he does not turn out to be the Kumar Gaurav of our generation. The film has above average plot and it is nothing compared to Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama movies but the positive point is that you will still love this flick. Why?- Because the chemistry of actors makes it a watchable movie.
Hichki –
Director – Siddharth Malhotra (not the one you are thinking about)
Cast – Rani Mukherjee

Box Office – Rs. 76 Crore
Plot – A teacher who stutter while speaking turns her weakness into a weapon.
If you take a look on Rani Mukherjee’s filmography then you will find that the actress is doing female centred movies since day one. Interestingly all of her women oriented movies are loved by critics. From Mehndi to Black to No One Killed Jessica, Mardani and now hichki – Rani earned praise for all the roles she donned.
Hichki is not your typical Bollywood masala movie but it sure is a fun ride. The film earned Rs 76 crore at box office which further proves that audience too loved the movie.
Raid –
Director – Raj Kumar Gupta
Cast – Ajay Devgan, Saurabh Shukla

Box Office – Rs. 142 Crore
Plot – An honest Income tax office raids the villa of a corrupt politician.
Ajay is one of the best actors in Bollywood but the man is probably not a good marketer. No I am not talking about his promotion of Vimal Paan Masala. Ajay focused a lot on the marketing of movies like Shivaay, Golmaal Again and Badshaho but the movies failed to impress critics.
He did not focused much on the marketing of Drishyam and Raid and both turned out to be great movies. While Raid is not one of the best movies of Ajay devgan but it surely is one must watch hindi film from 2018.
Mukkabaz –
Director – Anurag Kashyap
Cast – Vineet Kumar Singh, Jimmy Shergil
IMDB Rating – 8.2
Rotten Tomatoes – 83%
Box Office – Rs. 10 Crore
Plot – A Low caste boxer falls in love with his high caste coach’s daughter. A story of struggle began that ends with victory.
You know a film will be good if it is directed by Anurag Kashyap. The Gangs of Wasseypur and Black Friday director has showed that plot and story alone can pull audience toward theatres even if the film has no star appeal. In fact his film that featured a superstar flopped critically and commercially.
Mukkabaz is another must watch film that came out of the magical bag of Kashyap. Anurag gave chance to struggling actor Vineet Kumar singh and he absolutely nailed the role.

4. October –

Plot – A Young hotel intern feels connection with another intern who is in a comatose state.
Who could have thought the first critically applauded film of Varun Dhawan would also be the first flop of his career. The actor gave 10 back to back hit films in his career but except Badlapur none of them won critical acclaim. Badlapur too was loved because of Nawazuddin’s acting.
However, Varun presented his acting versatility in Shoojit Sircar’s October and yet the film failed to cross the 100 crore mark (which apparently all of Varun’s previous films crossed). If you have loved films like What’s eating Gilbert Grape, Forrest Gump, The Pursuit of Happiness and The Help then you will surely like their Bollywood counterpart – October.
3. Raazi –

Cast – Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal

Plot – A Kashmiri girl marries to a pakistani man to spy for her country during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
Alia Bhatt deserves all the awards that Bollywood can offer. She is one of the most beautiful actress and can easily stay in the long run race of Bollywood with the help of his family background.
But she is taking the female acting game on whole another level. Firstly, it was Highway,the Udta Punjab, then Dear Zindagi and Now Raazi – She is proving that glamour is not the only thing that an actress could provide to a film.
Most actress depend on skin show to gain fan following but Alia bhatt is changing the game and earning a lot of respect due to his work. I am already excited for Alia’s next projects – Gully Boy, Kalank and Brahmastra. Lots of Love and Respect to You Alia.
2. Padmaavat –

Plot – Evil Mughal Emperor Allauddin Khilji falls for beautiful Rajput queen Padmavati and decides to attack her state.
The more you suppress someone the stronger is the rebound energy. Karni sena would have never thought that the film they are abolishing would turn out to be one of the highest grossing movies of Bollywood.
Padmaavat not only became one of the highest grossing film of India but also became only of the best Bollywood movies of 2018. Actually it is no surprise that Padmaavat became such a huge hit because as soon as every Bollywood lover saw Ranveer killing it in the role of evil Khilji they knew that this film will be a milestone in everyone’s career.

1. Pad Man –

Plot – A Man decides to make Cheap sanitary pads for rural women.
Hate Him or Love him but we have to accept that Akshay kumar has reinvented him self as an actor. The man who was known for his loud humor and slapping non-sense films back to back on our faces has given a new direction to Bollywood.
From Past couple of Years Kumar not only entertain with his movies but also deliver a positive message that has positive impact on society. Pad Man is another great film from Akshay Kumar.
Other than Kumar it was ace direction of R. Balki and another impressive performance from Radhika Apte that made Pad Man one of the best film of the year. With Pad-mavat we believe that 2018 is the year of Pads (Sorry for PJ :p)
FLOPS –
So in this section you may find films that were not actually flops (in terms of box office collection) but were flops as they failed to create magic on the minds of audience. Here we go –
BAAGHI 2 –
I will be honest – Tiger Shroff is one of the best thing that happened to Bollywood lately. He may not know how to channel emotions in his character but he sure knows how to kick @$$. Sadly, our Bollywood is not utilizing him to full potential. Baaghi film series is just a glance on what action potential he holds.
He might not become the next Leonardo Dicaprio of Bollywood but he surely can be the next Tom Cruise. I won’t be harsh on Baaghi 2 because even though it is the same old boring adaption of a good south indian movie yet it tried to be different and gave us the action hero of Bollywood.
Baaghi 2 earned more than 200 crores at box office which proves that people loved the action avatar of Tiger shroff but I believe that he can be our very own Tony Zaa. Instead of putting him in love scenes put the guy in some Jackie chan like chase scenes and it might turn out to be another blockbuster of Tiger’s career.
On a critic level, Baaghi fails and we hope Tiger do better than this film.
HOPES –
Race 3 –
I have only seen the trailer of the film and I can only imagine how cringe-worthy this film is going to be. Surely, it will be another 100 crore sixer from Salman khan but the last good film he gave to us was Bajrang Bhaijaan (and to some extent Sultaan). Let’s hope Bhai strikes back again with Dabbang 3.
Sanju –
Was it Ranbir that I saw in Sanju’s trailer or was it Sanjay Dutt himself portraying himself? Ranbir is an actor with great potential. He proved it in past with movies like Rocket Singh, Barfi and Rockstar but his poor choices of films is keeping him away from the true stardom he deserves.
Let’s hope Sanju puts the charming actor back on track and turns out to the best hindi movie of 2018.
Gold –
Akshay Kumar’s next film tells the story of India’s first gold medal winner. It will be another patriotic film from Kumar which will be released on Independence day. Force is strong with this one and we believe that it will continue Kumar’s streak of semi-successful films.
2.0 –
Are they going to release this film or not? It’s in the production stage since early 2017. 2.0 is a sure blockbuster due to the pairing of two superstars Akshay Kumar and Rajnikanth. If the film has good story too then it will surely be one of the best Bollywood movies of 2018.
Drive –
Dear Karan Johar, Please do not ruin the original Hollywood film. Let’s hope it is as good as the original drive which starred Ryan Gosling. Sushant might not pull off that awesome cool leather jacket wearing boy look of Ryan but he has his own charm. If this film turns out to be half as good as original drive then it would be worth watching.
Sui Dhaga –
I have seen only set pictures of this film which stars Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma. They both are learning method acting and are being admired by fans for it. This film might be one of the best films of Bollywood.
Thugs of Hindustan –
I am never excited for Bollywood movies that are plain rip-off of classic Hollywood films but boy I am so hooked up to see Aamir Khan as the Indian counterpart of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). Thugs of Hindustan is said to be inspired from Disney’s Pirates of Caribbean and it might became one of the highest grossing Bollywood film ever.
Total Dhamaal –
The original Dhamaal is now a cult favourite comedy film. This sequel has Ajay devgan too so we can surely put our hopes on this movie.
Zero –
When the teaser hit Youtube in March 2018 every one commented that Shahrukh will make a comeback with this film. I will say that the actor has nothing to prove. Zero will only add up to his stardom.
Simmba –
Rohit Shetty + Ranveer Singh = Total Dhamaka. By the looks of it, I think that it is a goofy action comedy movie. The pairing of Shetty and Ranveer is perfect for such film.
Dabangg 3 –
There are still clouds on the actual release date of Dabangg 3 but if Bhai manages to release it by the scheduled date of December 2018 then surely it will be one of the highest grossing movie of 2018. On critic level, I can’t comment much.
We also have eyes on movies like Parmanu, Satyamev Jayate,Kedarnath, Student of the Year 2,Namastey England, Junglee and Fanne Khan.
