Even though Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri anime has been criticized for being a political propaganda yet there is no denying of the fact that fans are desperately waiting for Gate Season 3.
The Second season of Gate anime concluded in March 2016 and since then fans are waiting for Gate Season 3. Many anime fans consider that Gate was only one season long and ran from July 2015 to March 2016. That is not true. The Anime was divided in to 2 seasons with 12 episodes in each.
As both season ran back to back so there are many confusions among fans. Many fans were expecting that Gate Season 3 will return by the end of 2016 but that did not happened. Now there is a new rumour that Gate might return in Fall 2017 but that is also not true.
Sentai Filmworks and Madman entertainment has shown interest in Gate Season 3 on several different occasions. However, recently both companies have stated that Gate season 3 is in works. Let’s take a look on this complex anime series and what Gate Season 3 hold for us in store.
First of all let me clear to fans that Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri is not tea of everyone’s cup. Many consider the anime series to be a right-wing nationalism propaganda of Japan Self-Defense Forces. Many countries including United States of America are shown in the bad light in this show. So if you cannot handle it then do not watch this show.
The anime series is adapted from 2010 light novel series of same name by Takumi yanai. The first two seasons of Gate anime series are adapted from several elements of first four volumes of the light novel series.
Gate is set in Japan where everyone is living a normal life until one day a mysterious portal aka GATE opens in the sky and several medieval warriors march through it. These mysterious beings include dragons,elves and ogres. They destroy everything that comes their way.
We are introduced to our hero Yoji itami who is a 33 year old Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) soldier. Yoji is saves many lives during this battle and Japan scares off the enemy. Impressed from his heroic acts, Yoji is sent to the world beyond the Gate to find out the cause of war.
Yoji is accomapained by four beautiful girls named Tuka Luna Marceau, Lelei La Lelena Rory Mercury and Yao Haa Dushi. Tuka, lelei and Rory becomes huge admirer of Itami.
Tuka is a 165 year old elf, Lelei is a 15 year old magician and Rory is 961 year old demi goddess. Yoo ha is another elf girl (300 year old) who helps yoji in his adventures in other world. All the girls (despite their actual age) behave like teen girls. This is also considered a controversial part in series as Yoji 33 year old and all girls are teenagers, yet it is loved by audience.
Yoji meets another girl, Princess Pina colada who is in succession of the great empire of other world. She admires Yoji as well and wants peace between both worlds. However, tension arises between both worlds due to internal politics and betrayals.
Gate perfectly shows the political views that different type of government has but it surely favors one special kind of point of view.
Gate season 1 focused on Yoji’s travel to other world and how he become win respect of people in other world as well.
Gate Season 2 continued the themes of politics and betrayal but with a darker nature. Despite Yoji’s efforts both world comes to the verge of war. This is due to the internal politics in other world.Zorzal who is the crown prince is hell bent to destroy japan so he betrays his own family and his sister Pina Co Lada to go on war with Japan.
The season concluded with Yoji managing to stop Zorzal and scaring him away in exile. At the end of the season Pina Co Lada is crowned as the queen.
So after all this story of politics should we expect Gate Season 3? Of course because the light novel series has so many different arcs and content that are yet to be told in the anime series.
We should not forget that Zorzal is still alive and he hates Yoji. Also Yoji is yet to admit his love for Tuka (hopefully). The arc between Rory and Hardy is also getting interesting.
So when are they going to Air Gate Season 3? There is no definite news about it but Sentai filmworks has stated that they are overwhelmed with the positive response of Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri. The script for Gate season 3 is under works and they wish to conclude the series with third season.
The release date of Gate Season 3 is yet to be revealed but if they finish the script by fall 2017 and the season 3 enter production stage in early 2018 then we might see Gate season 3 by the end of 2018 or early 2019.
