Mob Psycho 100 Theme
Mob Psycho 100 (aka MP 100 for short) is arguably one of the best anime series in recent times. It was penned as manga series by none other than ONE. This Japanese artist is famous for giving us the 2014 breakout anime One Punch Man. Mob Psycho 100 might not be as popular as OPM but it surely has its own dedicated fan following.
The manga series that expanded upto 15 volumes ran from 2012 to late 2017. The future of manga series is also under curtains but one thing that we know is that there is lot of source material for the second season of Mob Psycho 100.
Bones is known for deviating from original storyline. One’s other anime series (which was produced by Madhouse) also deviated from the original web comic series but the storyline was still praiseworthy.
Mob Psycho 100 didn’t deviated as much from the original story but there are rumors that second season might see a change in the character of Shigeo Kageyam (Mob). So what can we expect? Is he going to be introduced as the distant relative of Saitama. Just Kidding.
Mob Psycho 100 Plot
Mob Psycho 100 series follows the life of Shigeo Kageyam, a 14 year old kid who is an average middle school student. But do not judge the book from cover. Shigeo is extremely powerful esper (psychic) who tries his best to control his emotions and his powers.
He believes that his powers are of no use and in fact, they harm people rather than helping them. However, he uses a minor fraction of his powers to impress his crush. Shigeo aka Mob is enlisted by Arataka reigen who calls himself as one of the best psychic. Mob believes him and takes him as his master. Little does he knows that Arataka is a fake impersonator and he is using mob’s powers for his own advantage.
Arataka often sends Mob to deal with paranormal problems that people are facing in the city. During one of his missions mob befriends an evil spirit named Dimple (who serves as anti-hero of the series). Mob has a younger brother named Ritsu who do not have any psychic power but is extremely intelligent.
Ritsu gets jealous of mob’s powers and subsequently gains his own powers. However, he does not become as great psychic as mob. Mob befriends another psychic named Teru.
Mob controls his rage and anger when provoked because if he achieved 100% range he becomes a power source that is unstoppable and dangerous. Mob himself cannot control his power once he reaches the 100th level.
In season 1 of Mob Psycho 100 we saw how mob learns about evil organization The claw and their plan to rule the world. In the season finale, we got to know about Shou suzuki’s real identity. He turns out to be the son of The claw’s leader Touichirou.
Expectations from Mob Psycho 100 Season 2
We are yet to see how the battle between Shou vs Mob will unfold. There were online rumors that Bones is planning to change the look of Mob and make him more attractive. However, Bones faced a backlash from fans. Many fans compared Mob similar to Saitama in looks, powers, and motives. The bowl haircut of Mob has now become a trademark in pop culture and there is absolutely no need to change it in the second season.
Impressed by the high sales of manga and anime series, famous streaming company Netflix decided to produce the live action version of Mob Psycho 100. Japanese actor Tatsuomi Hamada will portray the titular role of Mob in it.
The first season is available for online streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
