What are the best musical movies? There was a time when Musical movies were considered as the most entertaining genre. Back in those good old days music and movies were considered two good escape pods to fly away from the horror and sadness of wars and reality. Musical movies were produced in good number which focused equally on the music and the movie drama. People were getting double entertainment from one source and thats why musical movies were considered as sure blockbusters. But who knew that the genre will decline at such a fast rate in later decades that musical movies were be made as less as only a dozen in three or four years. Musical movies were very popular in the pre world war two era and continued to be leading box office movies until the 60s decade. The 70s decade experimented on lots of genres and most of them were successful. Though the 80s decade revisited the musical films but with a lesser success. Instead of adding musical numbers to plot, Film producers either added popular songs to the soundtrack or made original songs for the soundtrack. Disney animation films used musical genre a lot and were highly successful.
