Top Films of 2010
2010 was the first year of the new decade (10s). It was fresh decade and like previous decades needed a fresh idea on film making. Luckily the success of James Cameroon’s Avatar in 2009 gave that fresh idea to Hollywood. 2010 started the new trend of 3D films and Blu-Ray disk in the film making. The idea was so successful that a lot of films were making money much more than expected (even with dull storyline and weak acting). A Decade earlier it was tough for a film to make $1 Billion on its box office run but with the beginning of this decade $1 Billion became just a number to be crossed by films. Every film studio and producer targeted their high budget films for the $1 Billion dollar mark. The success of James Cameroon’s Avatar has taught the film makers that nothing is impossible in this industry and with the right use of every available resource one can surely gross $1 Billion in its box office run.
In 2010 2 films crossed the $1 Billion dollar mark. The first was Johnny Depp starer and Tim burton’s directorial ‘Alice in Wonderland’ which was released in 3D. The second was Toy Story 3 which was not only commercially hit but also got rave reviews from critics. The second last film of Harry Potter series and Christopher Nolan’s Inception too came close to $1 Billion mark but lost the race from few thousand dollars. However the year on the whole was a successful year for Hollywood.
