Top Films of 2008
The Year 2008 made a lot of buzz in world entertainment media. A Lot of buzz was around Christopher Nolan’s second Batman film ‘The Dark Knight’ which was not only the highest grossing film of the year but also was among the highest rated movies of the year. Back in 2005 when Christopher Nolan’s first Batman film Batman Begins released, Lot of people didnt expected that it will perform well. However, the DVD sales and word of mouth promotion of Batman Begins helped to make a huge fan base and to create the much needed buzz around the sequel. The wide fan base of Batman got more attached to the project when Heath ledger (‘Joker’ of The Dark Knight) was found dead in his apartment. The Dark Knight was last finished film of Heath ledger. When the first screening came out then many claimed it as the finest performance of Heath Ledger. A wider release of The Dark Knight helped it to dominate the box office at a much faster rate. Soon Heath Ledger and his portrayal of Joker was what everybody was talking about. His acting was so fine that for the first time in history of awards an actor was awarded Best Supporting actor for portraying a fictional supervillain. Heath Ledger will surely be missed. RIP heath.
The year 2008 is also remembered for record breaking performance of Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. Inspired from Indian Novel QandA the film won a record 8 Oscar at the 81st Academy Awards. Another interesting record was made by Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett starer ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ which was nominated for 13 Academy Awards but won only 3 Oscars.

A Lot of people consider that Wall-e is the best movie released in 2008. Critics prasie Wall-e for its fine use of CGI and animation and story line. DO you think Wall-E (Or any other movie released in that year) deserved to called as the best film of 2008?
