There was a lot going on in the action genre in the year 2006. A Lot of leading actors were doing there own stunts by 2006. This led to a popular trend and many actors took special care of their physique. Doing daredevil stunts was a life threatening task but with so much extra security and on-set cure allowed action heroes to push their limits. Be it popular chasing freestyle running stunt of Casino Royale or be it jumping from a tall building from Mission Impossible III or be it a funny Hill fall stunt from Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest audience was so much into it that they wanted to see more and more. 2006 was a gift to the action genre and audience got a lot of action movies in the same calendar year.
Apart from Action the Animation and Superhero genre was continuing their success at box office and at award shows. 2006 saw the return of Superman in ‘Superman Returns’ after almost 20 years. Though the film didn’t got much success as expected yet people were positive about another superman film. Another good film that created a lot of buzz in 2006 was Tom Hanks’ Da Vinci Code which was based on the controversial and popular novel of same name by Dan Brown.
