Top Films Of 2012
Of all the years since the dawn of film-era 2012 has been the most profitable year for Hollywood. 2012 turned out to be the luckiest year for many major film production companies and producers. Like previous years, 2012 too was a year of sequel, remakes, reboots and re-releases. With the introduction of 3D and iMax technology in previous years, A lot of directors and producers re-released previous hit films in 3D format. Interestingly these films were well received at box office. One popular re-released film was James Cameroon’s Titanic become the second film to gross $2 billion dollar at box office after Avatar. At one point Titanic actually gave competition to Avatar to become the highest grossing film of all time (AGAIN) but it failed to do so.
The most talked about film of the year was Joss Whedon’s Avengers Assemble aka The Avengers. For the first time in the history of film making several popular superheroes were seen together sharing screen. The Avengers was not only a commercial success but also was one of the highest rated film of the year. People actually liked the chemistry between Ironman, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Hawkeye.The Avengers become the third highest grossing film of all time.
Another film that made a lot of buzz was Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises which was the third and final film in the Dark knight trilogy. The film was blockbuster and was loved by fans. Similarly Peter Jackson’s first film in The Hobbit trilogy too did good business and went on to become the 4th highest grossing film of 2012. The 23rd James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ became the highest grossing James bond film of all time and the first James bond film to gross $1 Billion.
