Top Films 2005
The decade of 00s paved way for many great superhero movies. the beginning of the decade saw release of many successful superhero movies as Spiderman and X-Men series. But there was still something missing in the superhero genre. A Movie that not only set records at box office but also get critical acclaim globally. Perhaps ‘Memento’ fame Christopher Nolan felt this need and that’s why he decided to revisit the popular superhero ‘Batman’. 00s is known for many great movies with ensemble cast and Christopher Nolan knew that if he wants Batman to be a hit he needs to add big names to the project. Luckily he had the perfect cast available at that time. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman and ofcourse the great Morgan Freeman. The film was a blockbuster and led way to successful sequels.
Also the year saw the release of Fifth Harry Potter film and First Narnia film. Both films topped the chart of highest grossing film of 2005. But 2005 is know for a controversy to. Remember ‘Crash’, The film directed by Paul Haggis and consist of a huge ensemble cast? Crash won Academy awards for Best picture and many called it as the Worst picture to win academy award for Best Picture. Not only many found the film too racial but also supported the fact that Crash was actually released in 2004 so it should have been in that years academy Award Race.
