What are the best superhero movies? Who doesn’t want to have super powers? If you never dreamed of becoming a superhero when you were kid then your childhood was boring. We need an ideal inspiration in our life from time to time and we need a role model on whose foot steps we can live our life. This is the reason why people created imaginary fictional heroes with super powers who do good with other people and fight with evil for the sake of humanity. The very first popular superhero was obviously Superman who become a global phenomenon in the early 20th century. After that a long list of superheroes was introduced but not everyone was equally admired or loved.
When the first superhero SUPERMAN was introduced (and was a big hit), every film production company tried to make a superhero film on the character. But sadly technology was not high enough to make people believe that they are actually seeing a man with super powers on screen. So the production companies just waited for the right time. After the world war II ended, the technology improved a bit and production companies took risk in superhero films. However, None of the superhero film was hit.
Film makers in the 50s and 60s did tried to make a blockbuster superhero film but still technology and budget didn’t allowed them. So the superheroes were confined to the small screen only. It was after the success of major sci fi films Planet of the Apes, 2001: A Space Odyssey and most notably STAR WARS in 1977 that led film makers to take risk in superhero genre. This led to the first Blockbuster Superhero film SUPERMAN in 1978. The success of superman resulted in several sequels to the original film with legendary actor Christopher Reeve in the lead role of Superman. This inspired producers to focus on other superheroes too and then there were films on Batman, Hulk and X men in the 80s and 90s. The decade of 00s is mile stone in the superhero genre. This decade has highest number of superhero films than any other decade. It is not a surprise that the Highest grossing movies are ruled by Superhero films.
