Dracula Untold 2 is in talks since 2014 but the much awaited sequel of Dracula Untold was never confirmed by Universal Pictures. It is a bit depressing to know that the much proposed monster universe is falling apart even before it began. Yes, we know that Tom Cruise’s The Mummy will expand the universe and introduce it to the global audience but the original movie that started it all is yet to get a sequel. Luke Evans’ starer Dracula Untold became an instant fan favorite for multiple reasons and every one was expecting a sequel. But 2 years has passed and Universal studios has neither denied nor accepted the possibility of Dracula Untold Sequel.
Dracula Untold 2 need to happen and here are reasons to support this statement –
1. It will boost the Audience Reach of the Monster Universe –
Universal Studios is very much serious for their shared Monster Movies Universe and they are carefully following the footsteps of much successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. If they want the universe to be lucrative they really need to add Dracula Untold 2 to it. It was Dracula Untold that started all the rumors (and later confirmation) about the Monster Universe. If given the right direction then Dracula can become the Iron-man of the Monster Universe. We need a handsome poster boy and who else could be more attractive than the heartthrob vampire.
2. Luke Evans Nailed the Character –
Luke Evans’ deserve all the praise for the success of the film. Dracula Untold made a hefty sum of $217 million against the budget of $70 million. Luke Evans was almost unknown to the global audience but this role exposed as a global star. Luke gave an arc to the character and he can surely withstand the stardom of Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Russell Crowe (who are now part of the Monster Universe).
3. Dracula is an evergreen character –
The monster universe will have characters like Mummy (Tom Cruise), Wolf man (Possibly Dwayne Johnson), Invisible Man (Johnny Depp), Dr. Jekyll (Russell crowe), Van Helsing (Brad Pitt Possibly) and Frankenstein (Javier Bardem) but none of these characters have achieved the stardom and fame that Dracula achieved. A monster universe without Dracula would be a joke.
4. Unexplored Story lines and Characters –
The Original Monster Universe of Universal saw multiple characters and story lines related to Dracula (remember Dracula’s Daughter). So this means that Dracula Untold 2 can be adapted from any of the famous Dracula story line. Gary Shore who originally directed the film has already stated that he have medieval themed Dracula story in mind.
