Spiderman Returns to Marvel Cinematic Universe

Spiderman Comes Back Home

The dream team of The Avengers is going to be complete now as Sony Pictures Entertainment has signed off a new deal with Marvel Studios that SPIDERMAN will now be a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe. This surprise slash shocking (but expected) announcement came recently on Monday when Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures released a joint statement. Sony Pictures Entertainment bought the right of Spiderman Movies back in 1999 when Marvel Studios was just heading into the cine world. The Success of X-Men movies ensured Marvel to extend its films into a Marvel Cinematic Universe. By the end of 00s Marvel has already enjoyed success of its major superhero films and was projecting on a bigger picture with almost all of its comic superheroes.

Marvel’s 2012 multi-superhero film The Avengers became the second highest grossing film of all time and it was clear by then that Disney’s Marvel is the leader of Box-Office. Despite all this success there were still plenty of things missing to make MCU the perfect superhero universe. One among them was the long standing question of Spiderman and his role in MCU.

The original Spiderman trilogy was a huge success at box office. Sony Pictures rebooted the trilogy in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man film and it was also received well at box office. However after the second film fans speculated that Sony was unsure of what to do with Spiderman movies. After the infamous Sony hack last year it became more clear that Sony was actually on a sharp edge for Spiderman movies. In fact Sony was not even sure to re-cast Andrew Garfield as Spiderman. Even though the movie was a huge success yet most fans for not impressed by Andrew Garfield’s performance as Spidey and they wished for some better actor to step in the boots of Peter Parker do a better judgement to the role like Tobey McGuire. The leaked emails of Sony also indicated that Sony was actually in talks with the Marvel Studios to bring the character to MCU.

And Finally Spiderman Comes Home. MCU announced last year about ‘Civil War’ film. The civil war which will be hinted in The Avengers 2 and will serve as main plot for Captain America 3 (or Captain America: Civil war), sounded incomplete without Spiderman. This was because Spiderman played a major role between Ironman and Captain America during the civil war era. The new year brought a good news that Robert Downey Jr. has finally agreed to be a part of Civil war and now that Spiderman is back to MCU this means that Spidey will be first seen in Captain America 3.

Marvel Studios has confirmed that they will go with the old Peter Parker character and will not opt for Miles Morales. Also Marvel and Sony has confirmed that a new actor will be signed to play the role of Spiderman. So after Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield who will be our new Spiderman? Any Guesses?
