First Look: Welcome Back – Sequel to 2007 hit Welcome

Director Anees Bajmee has finally lifted the curtains over the star cast of his forthcoming film ‘Welcome Back’. Yes, you guessed it right. The film is sequel to the 2007 blockbuster romantic comedy film ‘Welcome’ which starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. Who is the pairing duo of ‘Welcome Back’. It’s the fresh pairing of handsome hunk John Abraham and gorgeous Shruti Hassan. Sadly we won’t be seeing the original pair of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Akshay hasn’t been paired up opposite her favorite Katrina Kaif since ‘Tees Maar Khan’. From the original, we will see Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Paresh rawal essaying different characters in the sequel. Late Feroze Khan who wowed the audience with his few minutes role will surely be missed.

Anees wanted a fresh pair for the lead role. John Abraham was his first choice for the male lead. John is already high on the success tides. He gave the hit ‘Race 2’ in the beginning of this year and his recent release ‘Madras Café’ was loved by critics and audience alike. John is excited to once again work with Nana Patekar and actors like Paresh Rawal, Anil Kapoor and baddie Ranjeet. For the female lead, Anees did had to look around before finally roping in Shruti Hassan. The role is previously said to be offered to Sonakshi sinha who rejected it due to date problems. Asin was also offered the role but she declined due to her commitments to ‘MERE APNE’ opposite Abhsihek Bachchan. Kangana ranaut will be seen portraying the similar role portrayed by Mallika Sherawat in the original.

Welcome Back Sequel

The cast of Welcome Back was announced in a Five star hotel in Mumbai, where John Abraham and Shruti Hassan gave classy poses to photographers in black suits.Paresh Rawal and Nana Patekar were also wearing black suits while Anil Kapoor who made a buzz recently after releasing the trailer of Indian version of 24 was seen in a chalk grey suit. Bollywood baddie Ranjeet was also there. Talking about the plot of the film, Anees said that the sequel won’t be a direct continuation of original. The sequel has a fresh story and you might see different characters from the original. A role similar to the one portrayed by Late Feroze Khan is offered to Amitabh Bachchan who might give it a green light. The release dates of the film are set for March 2014 and the shooting begins in September 2013.
