Top Films of 2004

The year 2004 was a special year for the leading ladies of Hollywood. Reason was Simple, there were too many good movies revolving around female characters. Whats New in that? You can easily count me years that had many good female character films but 2004 was special in a way that not only those female characters won hearts of critics and fans but also won many prestigious awards. This is a Rare Combination. Its not very often that you see too many great performances in a single year that its get harder for you to choose the best.

The first female character that won audience heart was Hilary Swank’s Margaret “Maggie” Fitzgerald in Clint Eastwood directorial ‘Best Picture’ winning film ‘Million Dollar Baby’. Whenever i say of great female performances i often compare them with the acting level of Kathy Bates’ obsessed fan in ‘Misery’ or Lousie fletcher as Nurse Ratched in ‘One Flew Over Cuckoo’s nest’, Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen ripley in Alien franchise and Frances McDormand’s Marge Gunderson in Fargo and now Hilary Swank’s Maggie in Million Dollar Baby. Rachael Mcadams, Imelda Stauton and Uma thurman too gave great performances in films released in 2004.
