Aamir Khan’s PK to release in June 2014 – Will it Break Chennai Express Record?

If Dhoom 3 doesn’t then may be Peekay?

Looks like Chennai Express has just ignited the race for the ‘Highest Grossing’ Bollywood film. With Salman Khan releasing more than 2 films next year, it is Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan who for the first time in last 6 years is releasing two films in less than 6 months gap. Its his long known project ‘PK’ (peekay) with famous director Rajkumar Hirani that got the release dates yesterday. Rajkumar Hirani announced yesterday that his film ‘Peekay’ starring Aamir Khan in lead role will release on 6th June 2014. Aamir khan is currently busy in promoting his upcoming action thriller comedy film Dhoom 3 which will be releasing on Christmas 2013. The shooting for ‘PK’ is half way done and Rajkumari Hirani is very excited for the film.

The last time the duo of Aamir khan and Rajkumar Hirani worked together, they produced the classic and record breaking film ‘3 Idiots’ which become the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time. It hold the number one spot for next 4 years until now when Shahrukh Khan Starrer Chennai express broke all the records and become the leader of Highest grossing bollywood films.

Rajkumar hirani is known for his off beat comedy films which gives social message. His films are not only adored by fans and critics but also have huge impact on our politicians (Remember ‘Gandhigiri’ in Parliament). He was supposed to come up with Another ‘Munna Bhai’ film but instead he decided to work again with Mr. Perfectionist in a new venture. PK also stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt, Tusshar Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Boman Irani, Shahid Kapoor and Ram Sethi.

Critics are hoping that the film might not break records, even if it gets a wide critical acclaim. This is because PK has a release date in Summer 2014 and Bollywood doesn’t follows footsteps of Hollywood’s summer blockbusters. For a film to be blockbuster it must be released on a public holiday like Eid, Diwali or Christmas, Says Film Pundits. But Who Knows, May be it creates a new History.
