The second Friday of September 2013 do not have awaited film of the year like first Friday’s Riddick yet has few promising films lined up. A total of 12 films are set to release this Friday out of which five films are documentary, one is foreign and 3 films are produced by Indie studious. Out of total 12 films only 3 will see a wide release. Last Friday’s Riddick which starred Vin Diesel in lead role is doing good at box office and has out ranked The Butler to become the top film at box office right now. The film is 3rd installment in the series and has come out after a 9 years gap. With Riddick Slowly catching up the pace, it would be interesting to see if it gets any competition from the films releasing this Friday (13th September 2013).

1. Insidious: Chapter 2:
Its been 3 years since the original film. Back in 2010, Insidious gained its own cult following and was loved by fans for its shock value and horror. The sequel to Insidious titled ‘Insidious: Chapter 2’ is set to release this Friday. Though it may not give a strong competition to the performer of the week ‘Riddick’ yet it is expected to better than the other films releasing on 13th September 2013. The plot of Insidious: Chapter 2 follows up right after the events of Insidious in which a dedicated father Josh (played by Patrick wilson) bring backs his son Dalton from the dark world named Further.
2. The Family:
Veteran actors Tommy lee jones and Robert De niro along with actress Michelle Pfeiffer teams up with French film director Luc Besson in the crime comedy film ‘The Family’. The film is based on the 2010 French Novel Malavita (aka BadFellas in English) by Tonino Benacquista and is set to release on 13th September 2013. The filming locations of The family were in France. The plot of the film may not appeal to many but due to the casting of stars like De Niro and Lee Jones, it might turn out to be a sleeper hit of the year. The film will also be released in France on the same day under the title Malavita. Who knows this might turn out another ‘Meet the Parents’ kind of family film for Robert De Niro’.
3. Jayne Mansfield’s Car:
Jayne Mansfiel’s Car, Billy Bob Thorton’s second film as director has an ensemble cast of actors Like – Robert Duvall, Kevin Bacon and John hurt. Along with directing the film, Billy Bob Thorton also appear in the film in a pivotal role. This drama film may not give strong competition to Riddick but it still has got good early reviews from critics.
Among the 9 Other films set to release this friday, the major films to lookout for are : Blue Caprice (which has received highly favorable reviews and While We are Here. Disney’s 1989 film The Little Mermaid will also see a 3D re-release this friday.
