The sudden demonetization of higher currency has affected Bollywood too. On 11 November 2016, 7 Bollywood movies released at box office. Among them, Farhan Akhtar’s Rock on 2 had most expectations but it barely collected 2.02 crore on its opening day. Though the movie reviews were mix but we have to agree that currency demonetization affected the box office collection of Rock On 2. This surprise move by Modi Government will be active till 30 December 2016. This means that Bollywood have harder days up ahead. Amid all the chaos on currency demonetization, it’s good to see that Bollywood superstars are supporting Modi’s decision. Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Randeep Hooda, Karan Johar, Ajay Devgan , Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor khan are among the top celebrities who supported this decision. Surely it will inspire common people to take a positive look on the long term benefits of this move. Let’s have a look on the Bollywood movies releasing this Friday i.e. 18 November 2016.
2 Hindi films are set for release on this Friday and here is a brief overview of both films –
Tum Bin 2 – Anubhav Sinha’s Tum Bin was a cult hit. It was released in 2001 and was praised for its evergreen music. But no one ever thought (or asked) for a sequel. Directors are ruining classic movies with mindless sequels. The failure of Rock on 2 is recent example of how badly sequels are performing at box office. The only attraction to Tum Bin 2 is Neha Sharma. She stars opposite Aditya Seal and Aashim Gulati. Demonetization and Force 2 will badly affect the overall collection of Tum Bin 2. The film have just one week to overcome its budget because next week Shahrukh Khan’s Dear Zindagi will release and it will have huge negative impact on the recent released movies.
Force 2 – Force 2 has upper hand on its competitor Tum Bin 2. This is because the film stars John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha. Both stars have a considerable fan following and this will surely boost the income of the film. Force 2 is sequel to 2011 action film Force. The original was a surprise hit and this was because of the chemistry between action heroes Vidyut Jamwal and John Abraham. This time the action department solely depends on John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha. The film is expected to pen around 10 crore on its opening day. However the recent demonetization might result in lower collection at box office.
So these are the two big budget Bollywood movies that are going to release this Friday (18 November 2016). Which movie you are going to watch and why?
